The Cedros Ecological Reserve is situated to the northwest of Quito and forms part of the greatly diverse region of El Chocó. The extension of the virgin forests makes this place a paradise to visit. The approach hike passes through farms and rivers until reaching the reserve, where we will be hiking its paths during the followings days..

Day 1
6:00 Departure from hotel
Travel to Chontal
10:00 Arrival to Chontal
Get ready for the hike
Separate the gear that will be carried by the mules
11:00 Start hiking
Make stops along the entire hike to be able to enjoy the landscapes and observe the interesting species of flora and fauna of the reserve
17:00 Arrival to the chalet in the reserve
Settle into accommodations
19:00 Dinner time

Day 2
8:00 Breakfast time
9:30 Start hiking to the cascade
Stop along the way to give explanations about the flora and fauna
11:30 Arrival to the cascade
Swimming
Box Lunch
13:00 Begin return hike to campsite
15:00 Arrival to the chalet in the reserve
Lunch time
17:00 Hike to the Inca Trail
Sunset is the perfect time to observe animals because it’s when they come out to look for food. Because of this, we will take a shorter, but windier path and will hopefully have more luck seeing interesting animals.
18:30 Finish hiking and return to the chalet in the reserve
19:00 Dinner time

Take down camp and get ready for the journey of the day
Separate the gear that will be carried by the mules
8:30 Return hike to Hacienda Releche
9:30 Arrival to the wetlands
Final opportunity to swim in the lakes of this beautiful reserve

Get ready for the hike and separate the gear that will be carried down by the mules
12:00 Box lunch
13:00 Start hiking

Pack up and get ready to return to Quito

What to bring:

• A large 50-liter backpack and a small 20-liter backpack. In the backpack or large duffle bag, put all of the gear in plastic bags because it will be carried by the mules and will only be accessible once at the campsite. The small backpack is to carry the gear that will be necessary to have while hiking.
• Comfortable, light clothing
• Rubber boots (recommended) for the hikes and comfortable shoes for the nighttime
• Change of clothes and shoes, taking into consideration the three day trip
• Rain jacket
• Sunglasses, hat with visor and sun screen
• Insect repellant
• Hygienic supplies
• Bathing suit and towel
• 1 bottle or thermos to bring hot drinks on the hike
